I really enjoyed the one-on-one conversations with Mr. Yates this year. I think that these have been really helpful in providing a personalized college application experience!

Mr. Yates is very humorous, and his humor stems from his sagacity. He has rich experience as a high school college counselor, and his suggestions on recommendation letters are very accurate and effective. I am lucky to be one of the students under his guidance.

I was amazed at how much my counselor knew me. As a new student who entered as a junior, I was worried that my counselor would not know me as well, thus recommending colleges I may not like. However, the first meeting I had with my counselor really impressed me because before he even met me, he had talked to my teachers and learned the way I study and therefore provided me with a list of colleges that I might be interested in. He is extremely experienced with universities which helped because when the college process started I felt like I was trying to find the needle in the haystack, looking for schools of all sorts around the world. My counselor helped me narrow my list down, while also suggesting colleges that are worth looking into (which is how I found my school). He really devoted all his time to students, helping each one of us through the application process and making sure that we aren't overwhelmed or behind on the application schedule. Apart from that, helped me feel confident in my choice and guided me step-by-step; his door is always open and he can answer all questions regarding the application process including visa, deferrals, what each school is like - basically anything.
